School Captain and Vice-Captain positions are well sought after at Aberfeldie Primary School. All students in Grade Six have the opportunity to run for these positions in the first term of each new school year.
School Captains and Vice School Captains are elected. Successful candidates are presented their captain’s badges at a school assembly.
The role of School & Vice Captains consists of: Representing the School, Being good role models, Making speeches when necessary, Taking a leadership role on the Junior School Council, Helping to organise special/activity days at school and working with the Principal and the Assistant Principal on various tasks. The roles of School and Vice Captains help students gain experience for being future leaders in society.

The House Captains (Grade 6s) and Vice- House Captains (Grade 5s) are elected by house members in grades 3-6. There are four houses: Red, Blue, Yellow, & Green. The captains take a major leadership role in whole school sporting events where they help organise competitors and lead house cheer squads.
Junior School Council representatives are elected in grades P – 6 by their class mates. They meet regularly to give feedback from their classroom on issues and suggestions for school improvements.
Students in Grades 1-6 were invited to apply for the leadership position of the eLearning or Digital Media Captain. The Captains work together to promote cyber safety within our school and share their technology knowledge and skills with students and teachers.
Students in Grades 3/4 are invited to apply for the leadership position of Sustanabilty Captain. The Captains work together to promote sustainablity and environmental awareness in our community.
Our school also has a dedicated AV Team that is made up of Grade 6 students. These students are responsibel for coordinating and setting up our AV equipment for events, assemblies and other special occasions.
